St. George's Lift Cup after Big Scare

by isleofman.com 9th April 2012

St. George's have moved a step closer to Manx Football's "Grand Slam" - but only after a massive scare in the F.A. Cup Final on Bank Holiday Monday.

Second Division Union Mills were in dreamland when they raced into a three goal lead thanks to two strikes from A.J. Suckling and another from Gareth Logan.

But the favourites hit back and were level by half-time courtesy of a Calum Morrissey hat-trick.

Further goals from Sam Cain, Chris Bass and two from Man-of-the-Match Ciaran McNulty saw St. George's run out winners 7-3.

The match tally of ten goals equalled the record number seen in an F.A. Cup Final.

Geordies captain Sean Quaye says it's another trophy towards their ultimate ambition but admits achieving a "Grand Slam" of all four major honours will still be very tough:-
