Steam Packet chief reiterates concerns

The Chief Executive of the Steam Packet Company says adding an extra quarter of an hour to journey times might discourage people from sailing in winter.

Mark Woodward was speaking after claiming wind farms in the Irish Sea could threaten the future of his company’s winter service.

He says plans by Centrica to site turbines along the route the Ben-my-Chree would use to get to Liverpool would add more time to journeys.

And he says that’s bad news all round.
