Chief Minister criticises AIB decision

by isleofman.com 5th April 2012

Chief Minister Allan Bell says he's disappointed by the announcement an Irish bank is leaving the Isle of Man.

Allied Irish Bank's decision to pull out of the Island is a blow for both the 115 workers here and for the Island's finance sector.

In a statement, AIB said it's to close down its base here at the end of next year as part of a strategic review which would see a smaller operation focused on its home market in Ireland.

Mr Bell criticised the timing of the announcement.
