Council leader Congratulates Mark Cavendish on birth of first child

The leader of Douglas Borough Council Councillor David Christian spoke for all members of the Council and staff when he expressed his delight at learning that Mark Cavendish, Honorary Freeman of the Borough of Douglas and acknowledged as ‘the world’s fastest man on two wheels’ had become a father.

 

Mr Cavendish’s partner, Ms Peta Todd, gave birth to a baby girl, Delilah Grace Cavendish, on Tuesday, April 3.

 

Councillor Christian said: ‘Douglas Borough Council is delighted that one of the Borough’s honorary Freemen, a Manxman who is an outstanding ambassador for the Isle of Man, has become a father. As the Isle of Man’s Sportsman of the Year and BBC Sports Personality of the Year and now the proud father of a baby girl, Mark Cavendish is clearly a young man enjoying professional and personal success and we send our sincere congratulations to him and Ms Todd and wish them every happiness for the future.’
