Swift Also Wins World Title

by isleofman.com 4th April 2012

Island resident Ben Swift has also been crowned a World Champion at the Track Championships in Australia.

He took the honours in the Men's 15 kilometre Scratch Race.

Swift held off a late surge from South Africa's Nolan Hoffman to cross the line first after a dramatic 60 lap race around the velodrome in Melbourne.

The venue has been kind to Manx riders as it is the same track that saw Mark Cavendish win gold at the 2006 Commonwealth Games in the same event.

And earlier today, Peter Kennaugh was part of the Team Pursuit four who claimed victory in a new world record time.
