Snaefell Mountain Railway Opens 4th April

by isleofman.com 3rd April 2012

The Department of Community, Culture and Leisure is pleased to announce the Snaefell Mountain Railway will start its 2012 service on Wednesday 4th April.

Departures from Laxey are every half hour from 10:15 to 15:45, stopping at the bungalow on the way. Laxey is accessible by the Manx Electric Railway and a full fare adult return journey from Douglas or Ramsey to the summit will cost the same as last year, just £12; £6 if you have a Rail Card and free with a Residents’ Ticket.

2012 also sees the re-launch of a regular Railway postal service from the Summit to Laxey so residents and visitors can send their post direct from the summit, receiving a special collector Snaefell Railway postmark for the journey. To celebrate this, a limited commemorative cover set will be available from the summit on the 4th April.

The popular Summit Dining Experiences will also be available this year. Sunset Dinners, Seven Kingdom Lunches and Pie in the Sky tickets are all available to purchase direct from the summit on 01624 673631 from the 4th April, with the first dining experience being a delicious Easter lunch on Sunday the 8th April.
