Registration is now open for the 2012 Moore Stephens Douglas Regatta officially scheduled for 30 June and 1 July in Douglas Bay in the Isle of Man. The organisers, Douglas Bay Yacht Club, are encouraging entries from all over the Irish Sea.
Sponsored for the 4th year in a row by Moore Stephens Isle of Man, leading providers of multi-sector accountancy, consultancy and wealth management services, the 132 year old Regatta is raced just off the two mile long Douglas Promenade in Douglas Bay.
“Last year we had a record number of entries and fantastic racing in great conditions on both days and lots of fun,” said Bransom Bean, Moore Stephens Crew Benefits director and sailor, “We also raised £1,500 for Sailing For The Disabled and intend to beat that amount this year.”
This year racing begins with three races on Saturday, 30 June at 10:30am followed by two back-to-back races on Sunday, 1 July kicking off at 10:30am. A £100 prize goes to the winning yacht and trophies for those in the top three.
Crews are invited to a BBQ on Saturday evening as well as the prize giving on Sunday afternoon, both at Douglas Bay Yacht Club on the tongue in Douglas’ Inner Harbour.
“Thank you once again to Moore Stephens for supporting the Regatta for this their 4th year – last year received fantastic feedback from racers and spectators and am sure that this year will be even better,” said Douglas Bay Yacht Club commodore Mike McMahon, “Already 2012 is set to top last year with entries expected from all over the Irish Sea”.
