Vagabonds win old firm clash

by isleofman.com 31st March 2012

Two drop goals from Jonny Beckley were the difference between two evenly matched sides as Vagabonds damaged Douglas’ promotion hopes in South Lancashire/Cheshire Division Two.

Vagas led 7-0 early on after Tom Gascoyne’s ninth minute try was converted by Beckley.

Douglas countered with a try from Callum Carine and a penalty from Scott Goodall and led 8-7 at half-time.

In the second half Vagabonds pushed clear with Beckley’s two neatly taken drop goals and clung onto their lead to run out 13-8 winners.
