Malew and Lib Van candidates declare

by isleofman.com 29th March 2012

In Malew, two well-known figures have announced their candidatures.

Eddie Power is embarking on his first foray into local politics, although he has been involved indirectly with politics as administrator of the website: MHKs They Work For You and through a long time association with the Ballasalla and District Residents Association.

Former chairman Bob Pilling has also confirmed he’ll be seeking re-election to the board.

Two more Liberal Vannin Party candidates have come forward.

Harry O’Grady, the founder of Harry’s Cafe in Market Hall, will stand in Victoria Ward for Douglas Council, while chairman of Peel Commissioners - Neil Cushing – will seek re-election not as an independent candidate but as a member of the party.

He says if elected, he would not only be able to represent the people of Peel on local issues but would also have access to the three elected Liberal Vannin MHKs.
