English Sporting shoot at ACTC

by isleofman.com 27th March 2012

Ayre Clay Target Club hosted the first of the summer 100-Bird English Sporting selection shoots in bright sunny conditions at Blue Point on Sunday, sponsored by the Trafalgar Hotel of Ramsey.

Twenty four shooters took part in the testing layout devised by Jake Keeling, ably assisted by his bunch of merry helpers.

Kevin Oates led at the halfway stage on 41/50, Keeling was two behind on 39 with Brian Mylrea on 38.

Keeling managed to overhaul the deficit in the second round, missing just three clays on one stand for a fine score of 47/50 to finish on 86/100.

Oates again hit 41 to finish second on 82, with Mylrea also scoring consistently with another 38 to finish third on 76.

Also scoring well in the second half were Marty Kneen on 39 and Dave Corlett on 38, to just finish outside the prizes.
