Bank staff see red for heart charity

by isleofman.com 26th March 2012

Staff at Lloyds TSB in the Island have raised almost ?1000 for research into heart disease - the UK's biggest killer - and gained lifelong health advice at the same time.

Colleagues joined staff at branches across the UK in the British Heart Foundation's 'Red for Heart' initiative.

The month-long annual event has raised millions of pounds for research into heart and circulatory diseases and patient care through a variety of red-themed activities. This year these included wearing red to work, a special 'Come Dine Red With Me' and British Heart Foundation red bingo!

The bank's wellbeing team used the event to promote healthy eating and exercise, encouraging staff to walk or cycle to work and take part in a weekly yoga class.

More than ?900 was raised which will be matched by the bank, and a portion of the proceeds will be donated to Craig's Heartstrong Foundation, a Manx charity set up to screen young people for undetected heart defects.
