Southern 100 Official to Carry Olympic Torch

A long serving official of the Southern 100 Road Races has been selected as one of the Torch Bearers for the Olympic Flame when it travels around the Isle of Man as part of its tour of the British Isles, prior to the games starting in London.

 

Boris Kitching is one of 23 people who will carry the Olympic Flame around the Island on Saturday 2nd June.

 

Boris, A long time Flag Marshal at the three events held on the popular Billown Course annually will hold the flame aloft on its journey between Ballasalla and Castletown, as it nears its journeys conclusion at the Isle of Man Airport.

 

Boris said: ‘It is an honour to have been nominated, then selected to carry the Flame as part of the Isle of Man team and to represent the Southern 100 organisers makes the occasion even more special for me and for the club.’

 

Club Chairman, Phil Taubman commented: ‘The Southern 100 is delighted and privileged to be part of this unique event, which will become part of the sporting history of the Isle of Man and the Southern 100 Road Races.’
