Black storms to victory in Warwickshire

by isleofman.com 26th March 2012

Talented Island rider Tom Black stormed to victory in the Bill Jinks Memorial Road Race in Warwickshire on Sunday.

The 21-year-old rider finished more than a minute ahead of his nearest rival in the 64-mile course around Corley.

Black, who is based in the Midlands with Cycle Premier, is sponsored locally by the IOMA Group and Premier Group.

‘It was a good full field and I followed a few wheels early on, but I was a marked man and it was looking hard to get away,’ he said.

‘But I kept in the top 10 or 15 riders and there were still attacks coming and going but nothing was sticking. There was a climb on the circuit which levelled out before another rise, so I sat tight for another lap, then hit them hard with five laps to go.

‘It was a really good day for racing, the first day really where you had to use your head, keep drinking and keep hydrated.’
