Baroness Cox to Speak at Island-Wide Breakfast

by isleofman.com 22nd March 2012

Baroness Cox, a cross bench member of the House of Lords will be the speaker at the Island-wide Breakfast at the Palace Hotel on Saturday 5 May.

She is a very active humanitarian and CEO of the Humanitarian Aid Relief Trust (HART) she. By her own reckoning her charity has spent somewhere in the region of £100,000  freeing more than 2,000 slaves during 55 trips to Sudan where slavery is still openly practised.

Another target for her campaigning is Sharia Law in Britain.

Addressing the House of Lords recently she said:

"We cannot sit here complacently on our red and green benches while women are suffering a system which is utterly incompatible with the legal principles upon which this country is founded. If we don't do something, we are condoning it.”
At the Breakfast she will speak of her own convictions and of her campaigning under the title “The Pain, the Passion and the Privilege of Trying to Make a Difference.”
