The number of new audio books in stock at the Manx Blind Welfare Society has been increased thanks to Royal London 360°.
Staff at the offshore life company have recently purchased two new audio books to benefit the charity’s members, as part of its ‘Buy a Book for Life’ campaign. Members will now be able to listen to the late Manx comedian Norman Wisdom’s autobiography, ‘My Turn’, and the Dick Francis classic, ‘Smokescreen’.
The Manx Blind Welfare Society, based in Onchan, has more than 400 members who are visually impaired. Its ‘Buy a Book for Life’ campaign aims to replace its 4,000 audio books with new, digital copies as many of these are either damaged or no longer fit for purpose.
Debbie Kenyon, Volunteer Co-ordinator at Manx Blind Welfare Society, commented: “I am very grateful to staff at Royal London 360°, who raised the money to buy the two new audio books through a recent cake sale. Their support will provide a lasting gift for many generations to come and help this vital service to continue.”
Natalie Hall, Director of Marketing at Royal London 360°, commented: “The Manx Blind Welfare Society maintains a lending library for its members, which is a vital resource that helps them to enjoy literature and the arts. We are only too happy to support the charity in its work and I hope the audio books we have bought provide enjoyment for those who listen to them!”
