Graham's Roving Job Role is Never a Chore

by isleofman.com 21st March 2012

Yachts and aircraft have been Graham Sowrey’s passion since leaving school which is why his job with Cayman National Bank and Trust Company (Isle of Man) Ltd is never a chore.

His job title of ‘senior officer - aircraft and yachting’ is allowing him to become a roving ambassador for the Douglas-based bank which he joined at the beginning of the year.

“I’ve recently got back from meeting a number of influential lawyers in Dubai, last week I was involved in similar meetings in London and in May I will be at the European Business Aviation Convention and Exhibition (EBACE) in Geneva which is the most important business aviation air show held in Europe,” he said.

Graham, who has significant experience of working in the aviation and marine sectors, will be accompanied by Alastair Macleod, an assistant manager in Fiduciary Services.

“We will be looking to network with attendees from as far as Africa, Asia, the Middle East and North America,” said Graham who, when living in Ramsey, was a member of the Ramsey coastguard for 15 years.

“It will be a perfect opportunity to meet up with the leaders in the aviation industry together with some private clients based in Geneva.  The show will be featuring over 60 aircraft, including nearly every major business aircraft design in current production on a display in a special 18,000 square metre static display area.”

EBACE, with over 300 exhibitors, is hosted jointly by the European Business Aviation Association and the National Business Aviation Association.

“The benefits of both the Isle of Man Aircraft Registry and the Isle of Man Shipping Registry are attracting considerable international interest.  The Aircraft Registry is now the eighth largest business jet register in the world and has registered a total of 456 aircraft in the last four-and-a-half years,” said Graham.

“Not only can we deliver all the resources required by clients but can offer a more pragmatic approach to their needs together with a bespoke personal service.”

September will see Graham at the Monaco Yacht Show, which is regarded as the greatest showcase of its kind in the world.  “In this day and age, yachting has become increasingly complicated and our aim is to deliver tailored financial solutions by developing a personal rapport with clients which is why it is important to be at this Show.”
