Work on new airport baggage equipment to start soon

by isleofman.com 21st March 2012

Work on the new baggage handling and x-ray machines at Isle of Man Airport will start next month.

That's after Tynwald approved the ?3 million scheme yesterday (Tues)

Ronaldsway faced losing it's Airport Domestic Status unless the equipment was in place by 1st September this year.

That would have had consequences for travellers with hold baggage as the U.K. would have viewed Manx passengers as a security risk.

Airport Director Ann Reynolds admits she is relieved the project has been given clearance to go ahead:-

Meanwhile, Onchan MHK David Quirk was the sole politician to vote against the proposals.

He explained why he took a personal stand.
