Extraordinary Manxman remembered

by isleofman.com 19th March 2012

A Manx poet, seaman, engineer and explorer has been remembered at a ceremony in Maughold.

Dozens of people gathered at Corony Bridge to commemorate the life and works of William Kennish.

President of Tynwald Clare Christian MLC laid a wreath at a plaque in remembrance of the man, who mined gold in South America and invented a way for British gunners to improve their broadsides.

Mrs Christian says Mr Kennish was an extraordinary Manxman.
