Isle of Man Tourism is pleased to invite visitors and residents to ‘On Your Doorstep’ exhibition, in association with 3FM, to find out about all the great attractions on offer right here on the Island all year round. There will be a number of attractions exhibiting at this fantastic free event and a wide range of pursuits to inspire people to get out and about and explore the Island.
The inaugural, and first of its kind in the Isle of Man, ‘On Your Doorstep’ exhibition was held in March 2011 and proved a great success, attracting over 1,800 visitors. Its aim is to encourage local people to venture out, rediscover all the Island has to offer and additionally encourage them to share their discoveries and unique exclusive offer vouchers with visiting friends and relatives.
‘On your Doorstep’ 2012 is shaping up to be even bigger and better, showcasing over 50 quality attractions, activities and events along with the opportunity to meet some of the individuals involved in organising them. Everyone is welcome to attend and it is guaranteed that there will be something that appeals to everyone, young and old alike.
The exhibition will take place on Saturday 24th March at the Villa Marina, spanning three rooms, The Promenade Suite, Colonnade and the Royal Hall. Doors will be open from 11.00am until 4.00pm with free admission for all.
Exhibitors on the day will include adventure experiences, golf tours, horse riding, diving, cycle hire, angling clubs, motor sport, railways, ghost tours and museums along with many more of the Island’s activity providers. There will also be an opportunity to sample some of the Island’s finest local produce ranging from ice-cream, fudge and cup cakes to kippers, cheese and jams. The Royal Hall will have live entertainment on the stage throughout the day and the event will be broadcast on 3FM Radio. Exhibitors will also include local music festivals, the 2012 literacy festival (Litfest), Peel Carnival, poetry readers and there will be face painting for the children.
Geoff Corkish MBE, MHK, Department of Economic Development Political Member with responsibility for Tourism, said:
‘This year we have enhanced the ‘On Your Doorstep’ entertainment programme and attracted double the number of exhibitors. I would like to encourage people to come along, pick up the offers and get some great ideas for an exciting and fun-filled Manx day out.’
Mr Corkish went on to say:
‘It is the perfect opportunity for residents to spread the word to friends and relatives that they should visit to discover for themselves the range of attractions and numerous events that take place on our wonderful Isle of Man throughout the year.’
Isle of Man Tourism still requires entertainers to perform on the Royal Hall stage and there are a few exhibition stand spaces available. For an application form to participate please contact Deana Douglas on 01624 682355 or email deanadouglas2@gov.im.
