Taggart launches English title defence

Lloyd Taggart began his quest to retain the English Fell Running title with a fine third place in the opening round of the 2012 season.

The event was held at Lad’s Leap near Glossop in the Peak District.

Taggart finished 32 seconds behind the winner.

Closer to home, Tom Cringle won the fourth round of the Manx Fell League at Glen Mona.

He came out on top on a testing 14 kilometre route ahead of Simon Skillicorn and Ian Gale.

Kate Burge was the first woman home in 14th place, followed by Rosie Craine and Michelle Turner.

Manx Harriers junior racewalker Alex Eaton finished a fine seventh place in the under 18s men’s 10 kilometre walk at the Lugano Cup in Switzerland on Sunday in a time of 51 minutes 15 seconds.
