Unions urged to temper pay demands

by isleofman.com 17th March 2012

Chairman of the Civil Service Commission Alf Cannan MHK is urging unions to show restraint in future pay negotiations.

It’s after the government announced civil servants have been awarded a 1.2 per cent pay rise this year.

Mr Cannan says negotiations have been difficult and the rise will cost the government a million pounds this year.

But he says pay demands in future could mean jobs are put at risk.
