Bishop Robert pays tribute to outgoing Archbishop

The Island’s Lord Bishop says he has fond memories of working closely with the Archbishop of Canterbury Dr Rowan Williams.

Yesterday, the archbishop announced he’d be leaving the post at Christmas to start an academic career at Cambridge University.

It brings to an end a decade as leader of the Church of England.

Bishop of Sodor and Man Robert Paterson worked for Dr Williams at the Council of Mission and Ministry in Wales for six years and has known him personally for more than twenty years.

He says Dr Williams has been a remarkable figure during his time in the Church of England’s most senior role:
