Cuts regrettable but necessary

Chief Minister Allan Bell says he sympathises with protestors who object to cuts – but says the Island has to stay the course.

Campaigns opposing cuts to pre-school education, libraries, and the loss of the Island’s drugs advice service have made headlines in recent weeks.

Mr Bell says he understands people’s concerns, but points out the Island needs to save ?170 million over the next three years.

And he says the government takes no joy in announcing cuts to services.
