Campaigner disappointed at politicians' response

by isleofman.com 15th March 2012

A solicitor urging a re-think over plans to close a Douglas residential home says she’s disappointed by the number of Island politicians who met her.

Yvonne Hossack met MHKs and MLCs, along with residents and staff at Glenside which is due to shut in 2014 as part of plans to offer more care for elderly people in their own homes.

She says there’s clear evidence closing care homes increases residents’ mortality rates and leads to wider cost implications.

Ms Hossack had hoped more politicians would have shown an interest.
