Island makes US money laundering list

by isleofman.com 14th March 2012

America has named the Isle of Man a “country of primary concern” when it comes to money laundering and drug trafficking.

But the Department of State’s list has the Island in good company, alongside the UK, US, Jersey and Guernsey.

The annual International Narcotics Control Strategy Report says 66 countries have financial institutions which deal in cash from the international drugs trade.

The report says the list is about the amount of money laundering in each jurisdiction, rather than a comment on what each nation’s doing to combat the problem.
