Police name prisoner found dead in cell

Police have confirmed the identity of the man found dead in his cell at the prison yesterday (Tuesday).

He was 26 year old Michael Joseph Davidson.

Officers were called to the Jurby prison on Tuesday morning after the death was discovered.

Police enquiries are continuing on behalf of the Coroner of Inquests.

In line with the protocol for a death which occurs within the Prison, a Home Office pathologist from the UK has been called in to carry out a post mortem.

This is due to take place tomorrow, Thursday 15 March.
