Airport bosses have outlined serious consequences for air travel to and from the Isle of Man, unless new X-ray machines are installed at Ronaldsway.
Tynwald will be asked next week to approve spending almost ?3 million on new baggage facilities.
Existing X-ray units will fail to meet EU standards from September, and unless they're replaced with upgraded machinery the Island will lose its domestic flight status .
That would mean aircraft and passengers from the Island facing lengthy security checks at airports across the British Isles.
It was hoped existing machines could be modified to meet the new rules, but that has been ruled out.
