Message from Queen to start Keys sitting

by isleofman.com 13th March 2012

A message from the Queen marking Commonwealth Day will kick-off business in the House of Keys this morning.

It will be read to the House before the start of questions – and Her Majesty’s message will concentrate on the Commonwealth’s cultural diversity.

There are seven questions for oral answer during today’s sitting, as well as six for written reply.

Topics include forthcoming freedom of information laws, a new CCTV control room in Douglas and cuts to French lessons in primary schools.

Liberal Vannin MHKs Kate Beecroft and Zac Hall lead the charge during questions, with Mrs Beecroft asking the chief minister if the Douglas Community Safety Partnership is part of government.

Meanwhile, Michael MHK Alf Cannan will quiz Education Minister Peter Karran about school visits he’s made since taking up his ministerial post.

Onchan MHK David Quirk will ask for a written reply from Mr Karran about how much the Manx language officer and Bunscoill costs the department.

You can hear live coverage of Keys questions on Manx Radio’s AM1368 frequency, and on manxradio.com's 'Listen AM' feature from 10 o' clock this morning.
