Delays in law to be probed

by isleofman.com 12th March 2012

Members of the public are being asked 'have advocates deliberately wasted your time, so they could get a bigger fee?'

A Tynwald committee wants to find out whether there are unnecessary delays and deficiencies in civil legal proceedings.

North Douglas MHK John Houghton, who has asked a number of parliamentary questions on legal delays, has been made committee chairman with MHK Brenda Cannell and MLC Tony Wild drafted in to help him.

The public, with something to contribute, are asked to submit their evidence, although it's pointed out the aim won't be to reopen cases.
