The Liberal Vannin Party has announced that Kevin Oliphant-Smith will be standing for the Party in Hills Ward in the local authority election in April.
Kevin currently works in the retail sector and previously worked in the care industry. His main interest is the health and care system and he is a hospital volunteer, a position which gives him enormous satisfaction.
Kevin is married to Claire has a young baby son, Kyle, and is committed to improving things for him and his generation. He would particularly like to help achieve a community centre in the area, improved street cleaning and better policing leading to a reduction of antisocial behaviour. He would also like to see Douglas Council involving the public more in the decision making process.
Peter Karran MHK, Party Leader and Minister for Education and Children said, “I have known Kevin for a number of years and absolutely endorse his candidacy. I have never known Kevin to act with anything but the utmost honesty and integrity. He will be a real asset to everyone in Hills Ward.”
Part Chairman, Roy Redmayne, stated that he is delighted to see the younger generation getting involved with politics. Roy said, “The Island needs a generational balance in both local and national politics and I am delighted to see the younger generation having their say on decisions that affect their future and see the Liberal Vannin Party as a means of presenting those views.”
