An education union head has dismissed comments made by a group which claims to represent 19 private nurseries and play groups in the Island.
The Manx Early Years Alliance believes the quality of care and education could improve when government funded pre-schools are transferred into the private sector from September.
The Alliance says there’s a smaller child-staff ratio in private run facilities with more monitoring and age-specific activities.
That’s prompted an angry response at the 11 state-run pre-schools and from Andrew Shipley, secretary of the Association of Teachers and Lecturers.
