Pension contributions not compulsory

by isleofman.com 9th March 2012

Tynwald members should make a five per cent contribution towards their pension.

That's the recommendation of the Standing Committee of Tynwald on Emoluments which has produced its first report.

At this month's sitting of the court, committee chairman Steve Rodan SHK, will ask that the report be received and its recommendations approved.

Mr Rodan believes the move is overdue but whilst the payments will be phased in from April 1 with a starting figure of three per cent, the payment cannot currently be made compulsory.
