Mali cotton farmer fetes Bunscoill youngsters

by isleofman.com 9th March 2012

A cotton farmer from Mali has been congratulating children at the Bunscoill for their work on fair trade.

The visit from Massatoma Mounkoro was the school's prize for coming first in a competition to design bunting made from fair trade cotton. He told the youngsters fair trade projects have made a difference to his community in Mali.

The project was part of Fair Trade Fortnight and all pupils at the Manx school have been taking part in a special assembly and lessons focusing on trade around the world.

The children told Massatoma they've been inspired to help farmers and workers in other countries by buying fair trade products when they have a choice.

Some pupils used the visit to try out a bit of their French, while answering Massatoma's questions!
