Disappointment over Colby development

by isleofman.com 7th March 2012

The three Rushen MHK 's have expressed disappointment that an independent planning inspector has given the green light to a development on the old Colby football field site.

There was extensive local opposition to the Heritage Homes scheme, which it's believed would add significant volumes of traffic to Colby Glen Road. It's felt the road is far from ideal for the traffic which already uses it.

Phil Gawne MHK says as Minister for Infrastructure at the time, he had to keep a reasonably low profile when the plans were being considered for fear of being biased and he has kept out of the decision making process.

But along with his two Rushen colleagues he has concerns about the scheme.

Mr Gawne is also surprised the legitimate concerns of the local residents have been ignored and thinks it could be time for a change in the way planning appeals are dealt with
