Corinthians go six clear

by isleofman.com 5th March 2012

Corinthians are in pole position to win a third successive MBL Division One title after beating their neighbours and nearest challengers Douglas Royal 4-0 on Sunday.

Two goals from Kiera Morgan, a Helen Thomas penalty and a Charlotte Wynne-Smythe strike sealed the victory.

In the other Division One match, Gymns kept their fading title ambitions alive with a 3-2 win over Castletown.

The Tromode side led 3-0 at half-time, courtesy of strikes from Kim Carney, Mia Brigantova and Rhiannon Brew before the southerners fought back via a Justine Carran brace.

In MBL Division Two, Rushen United registered their first win since their reformation with a 3-1 victory against DHSOB.

With the scores level 1-1 at the break, Sarah Nelson, Anna Watterson and Chloe Swales scored for the southerners.

The Blackberry Lane outfit response came via a Wendy Gurney effort.

Ramsey occupy pole-position in the women’s second tier after a 3-2 victory over Peel.

The northerners led 3-0 at the break after strikes from Lauren Miller, Ellen Jauncey and a Bekkie Colquitt penalty.

Nicola Naden’s second half brace kept Peel in the hunt.
