Meat plant bosses hopeful of Tesco u-turn

Bosses at the Island's meat plant are fighting back after the temporary loss of the Tesco contract.

They say all their customers, both local and export, are perfectly happy with standards at the plant.

Inspectors for Tesco arrived for an early, unannounced audit at the plant a week last Thursday.

The plant failed on several counts and for the time being Manx meat is no longer on the supermarket's shelves.

An automatic metal detector will have to be installed and some auditing lapses put right.

Chairman of the plant Graham Crowe says there's no problem finding other markets for the beef Tesco doesn't want:
