Boost for Gymns in six goal thriller

by isleofman.com 3rd March 2012

Gymns’ great escape bid gathered further momentum on Saturday.

They drew 3-3 in a six goal thriller at Peel to move within a point of Ramsey Youth Centre in the table.

The Tromode side boosted their hopes of avoiding relegation thanks to Mark Connor, an own goal and a Nick Bowden penalty.

Chris Caine, Kerron Christian and Lee Gale were on target for Peel but Gymns’ resilience shone through.

At the other end of the table in the Canada Life Premier League, Laxey moved up to second in convincing style.

They thrashed St John’s 6-1 on their own turf, courtesy of braces from Ashley Webster, Lee Cowley and Danny Foulis.

A Steven Glover penalty was the only bright moment on a miserable day for St John’s.
