The Isle of Man Fatstock Marketing Association says it’s hopeful Manx meat will soon be back on the shelves at Tesco.

Last week the chain pulled stock from the meat plant in Tromode after an inspection threw up problems.

Earlier this week, Agriculture Minister Phil Gawne met Tesco bosses in London.

Now, the Association says there’ll be another inspection, as well as changes to working practices at the plant.

In a statement, acting chief executive officer John Dawkins says the reinspection will be carried out after outstanding issues have been dealt with.

Mr Dawkins says Isle of Man Meats is confident it will pass a new audit and secure new contracts from the company in the near future.

He points out the British Retail Consortium gave the meat plant an A-grade during an inspection in December last year.

And he says there are no concerns about animal welfare, food safety or quality.
