Manx Telecom buys top domain name

Community website isleofman.com has been bought by Manx Telecom.

The site was launched by the Duke Group in 2001 and bought-out by the firm's former finance director David le Provost five years later.

The website offers local news and information, a tourist guide, business directory and advertising.

Its domain name has made it number one in Google searches using the term "Isle of Man".

Manx Telecom says with growing numbers of customers using internet-enabled devices, it's an ideal acquisition. 

Director of Marketing David Smith says staff will keep their jobs and for the time being it's business as usual:
