Michael MHK welcomes planning decision

A housing development planned for Kirk Michael has been turned down by an independent inspector.

Heritage Homes wanted to build 100 properties on land at Douglas Road Corner.

The whole scheme has been argued over for some years, with access through the playing fields of the village's primary school being a main bone of contention.

A land swap between Heritage Homes and the Department of Education had been agreed, but the inspector's decision has put the brakes on the developer's plans.

Michael MHK Alf Cannan told Manx Radio he welcomed the news:
