Cal Cooper to ride for JDF Racing

by isleofman.com 28th February 2012

TALENTED 15-year-old racer Cal Cooper will ride for Lancashire based team JDF Racing this season.

Cal, of St Jude's, will race in the 17-round Aprilia RRV450GP Challenge series run by Thundersport GB.

Too young to race a 600 machine, he has opted to get some experience on an intermediate size four-stroke ahead of a possible larger capacity ride later this year.

With 12 wins and the Mallory lap record under his belt in his debut year in the Aprilia Superteens championship, Cal switched to the BSB 125GP championship last year but hit difficulties after breaking a leg in the second round at Oulton park, suffering various other injuries next time out at Thruxton and then becoming less than fully competitive because of his height and weight.

Assisted by Manx Sport Aid via a Duke Marketing Bursary, Cal has just returned from a very successful three-day test at Cartagena in southern Spain and is raring to go for the first two rounds of the title series at Brands Hatch.
