Five-star Valkyrs stay clear

by isleofman.com 25th February 2012

It’s as you were at the top of the Wi-Manx men’s Premier Division.

Leaders Valkyrs A maintained their 100 per cent record in the men’s league by thrashing Vikings A 5-1, courtesy of goals from Chris Thomas (two), Ollie Webster, Steve Moore and Steven Lowe.

Johnny Killey notched the Vikings goal.

That kept them two points clear of reigning champions Bacchas A who demolished Ramsey A 16-1.

Karl Moore led the demolition with eight goals.

Tom Wilson hit four, Jamie Brown a hat-trick and Alex Atkinson one.

Raj Nanda scored the northerners’ consolation.

Bacchas B edged out Castletown A to seal an impressive 3-2 win, thanks to goals from Alex Bell (two) and Josh Riordan.

Danny Kniveton and Steve Ronan fired home for Town but it was Bacchas B’s day.

There were no shocks in the Wi-Manx Women’s Cup.

Vikings A hit Ramsey A for six with a Katie Errock hat-trick, Kirsty Bowley, Sarah Blackman and a Hayley Crowe penalty flick securing a 6-1 win.

Julie Chesterton grabbed the Ramsey goal.

A goal in the opening seconds set Castletown A on their way to a 12-0 rout over Valkyrs B.

Hat-tricks from Lois Watterson and Kerry Kelly, two each from Nat Wiseman and Sibby Clucas, and one each from Breeshey Harkin and Hannah Leece, ensured it was one-way traffic.

Maxine Smalley (two), Leanne Miller and Leanne Prescott found the net as Valkyrs A saw off Bacchas B 4-0.
