Calls to Crimestoppers help Island police

by isleofman.com 24th February 2012

ANONYMOUS calls to Crimestoppers helped police in the Isle of Man deal with six incidents of crime in the last quarter of 2011.

Between October and December information, on both criminal and motoring offences, provided via the charity also resulted in two arrests which led to court appearances.

Statistics released this week show that information given to Crimestoppers this year has resulted in one arrest.

Stuart McCudden, Chair of Isle of Man Crimestoppers, said: "These figures show that information provided to Isle of Man Crimestoppers has a real impact in helping police to investigate crimes and in ensuring that offenders are brought to justice."

Anyone in the community can use the Crimestoppers hotline – 0800 555111 – in confidence to report crime or information they have about crime.

All calls are handled by the UK Crimestoppers call centre so Isle of Man callers can therefore remain anonymous.
