MEMBERS of Tynwald were warned yesterday (Tuesday) about the seriousness of leaking confidential information.
The President of Tynwald, Clare Christian MLC, opened the February sitting with a stark warning for her colleagues.
It came after one Member reportedly leaked the Budget document last week forcing the Department of Education and Children to reveal the cuts it will make in service provision.
Addressing her political colleagues Ms Christian said standing order 2.3 (2) – the order which states that the Budget and associated papers should be treated as "strictly confidential" until it was presented – had been breached.
Ms Christian added: "It would appear that a Member has breached this standing order making it necessary for statements to be made before this sitting on certain aspects of the Budget proposals.
"Any such breach is a gross discourtesy to the Court and does a disservice to those members who comply with standing orders and behave honourably."
