MHKs to oppose housing development at beauty spot

by isleofman.com 21st February 2012

Castletown MHK Richard Ronan says he'll campaign to prevent the former Golf Links Hotel being used for a housing development.

Mr Ronan and MHK for neighbouring Malew and Santon Graham Cregeen, in whose constituency the facility is based, have met residents of Derbyhaven, after backers of a proposed new leisure complex failed to buy the site.

The former hotel was bought from the receiver by Dandara, after the Golf Links course was sold separately.

Mr Ronan says the site is a spectacular location for a new tourist attraction and leisure facilities would be ideal.

He says local residents are determined to resist new house-building on the site:

Manx Radio is seeking further details from Heritage Homes of its plans for the Golf Links Hotel.

No one at the company has responded yet.
