Motorsport Mundial celebrates 3,000th milestone

by isleofman.com 17th February 2012

MOTORSPORT Mundial has celebrated the production of its 3,000th international TV programme.

The Island based television company, which has been creating TV shows for over 15 years, brings together experience from Greenlight Television and Duke.

It produces motoring and motorsport programmes which are available for broadcast in HD and combine news from motorsport and the motoring industry along with features, interviews and behind the scenes access and technical insight.

The weekly programmes are sold internationally and are currently broadcast in more than 160 countries and territories around the world with a potential audience of more than 710 million homes.

Crews from Motorsport Mundial travel the world to attend and film car launches, motor shows, industry events and leading motorsport meetings.

The production of each programme takes place in the Isle of Man and the finished shows are sent around the world.

Global partners include ESPN, Star Sports, Al Jazeera, Sky Sports and the UK's Channel 5.

The production of the 3,000th programme – and the fact that 2011 was the best year yet for Motorsport Mundial - was celebrated at a special event held in Douglas last night (Thursday).

Richard Nichols, company director for Greenlight, said: "It seemed like a very fast 15 years but we're delighted to have been involved in such a successful joint venture with Duke and to have proved so consistently that Manx businesses can take on the best in the world - and win."

Duke managing director Peter Duke added: "We believe it is very positive that a company in the Isle of Man has for more than a decade, and continues to, reach such an international audience.

"When small businesses are quietly and effectively doing their work, as many do in the Island for export markets, it is common for people, here and overseas, to under appreciate the talents, skills, expertise and sheer commercial drive that we have in the Isle of Man.

"Having reached such a significant landmark, the creation of 3,000 international television programmes, from here in the Island is very exciting for everyone at Duke and Greenlight but also a clear signal that the Isle of Man has a rich, diverse and resilient economy with a truly global reach."

Each year Motorsport Mundial team members attend a number of leading international television conferences to find new broadcast partners and "carry the flag for Manx business".

Mr Duke continued: "International TV shows are the shop window for Motorsport Mundial and we strive to attend as many as possible every year.

"From Asia to America, wherever our sales team presents our shows, we are asked about the Isle of Man. We are proud to represent our Island on the international stage and ensure a map of the Island's location and our place within this community feature prominently in our worldwide marketing material."
