A member of the House of Keys wants the Manx government to consider the viability of creating an allowance for people who are prepared to stop working to care for loved ones.
South Douglas MHK Kate Beecroft has a motion on the subject for next week's sitting of Tynwald.
It says that all options should be considered to maximise the benefit of money spent on the care of elderly and vulnerable, and the minister for social care should report back on her suggestion by the May sitting of the court.
