THE Island's Special Care Baby Unit (SCBU) has received a cash injection from Royal London 360°.
The offshore life company has donated £2,120 to the unit which it raised through holding a raffle.
The donation will help to support the specialist training of two neonatal nurses who require ongoing training in the UK.
More than 140 children are looked after each year at the special care unit which is based at the Jane Crookall maternity unit at Noble's Hospital.
17 full time staff work around the clock to look after babies who are born premature or who require further observation and treatment.
Paul McCann, who is the lead nurse on the unit, said: "It is important to ensure that, wherever possible, babies who require our help can be treated here on the Island rather than sent across to the UK and away from their families.
"This donation will help to facilitate further specialist training for staff and ensure that our patients continue to receive the best possible care."
