Kittel Beats Cav in Oman

by isleofman.com 16th February 2012

Young German sprinter Marcel Kittel has won stage three of the Tour of Oman.

He produced a devastating finish to out-gun Andrew Greipel to the line.

Mark Cavendish was in contention as Team Sky led from the front as a four-man breakaway was reeled in with just 5 kilomtres to go.

The Manx Missile had to settle for 8th place - after the race he tweeted "Poor result today. Left it too late & found my path blocked in the last metres. Serves me right for hesitating. Congrats to marcel kittel"

The next two stages are in the Mountains so the next opportunity for Cav will be on the final stage on Sunday.
