'LVP reputation damaged by Dobson case'

The chairman of the Liberal Vannin Party says he is delighted a party member has cleared his name of criminal allegations.

However, Roy Redmayne says there is no doubt the perception of the party has been damaged by the episode.

On Tuesday, Nigel Dobson was acquitted of making a false statement on his election nomination paper.

He unsuccessfully stood as a House of Keys candidate in Garff last September.

Mr Redmayne believes the case should never have made it to court:
